What Our Learners Say, in Their Own Words
These are the stories of people who came to Sinar Wawasan uncertain and left with something more solid to stand on.

"I had been avoiding looking at my EPF statement for years. The Foundations programme changed that. The way the sessions explained Account 1 and Account 2 in plain language — I finally understood what I actually had and what I could do with it. The workbook is still on my desk."
"The one-to-one session at the programme midpoint was worth the fee on its own. The advisor sat with my actual numbers and helped me see how different retirement ages would feel financially. I had never had a conversation like that before — just honest and practical."
"My husband and I did the Legacy programme together. The wasiat session with the guest lawyer was something we had been putting off for years. We left with a clearer picture of hibah arrangements and finally drafted our wasiat the following month. That alone made it worthwhile."
"I appreciated that the language was straightforward. A lot of financial content makes you feel like you need a degree to follow it. This did not. The worked examples using Malaysian household incomes were particularly useful — I could see myself in them."
"I was nervous about technology but the support team was patient with me right from the start. The sessions loaded easily, the workbook arrived by post within a week, and whenever I had a question for the forum someone responded properly — not with a link to a website. Real answers."
"I work with numbers professionally, so I thought the Legacy programme might cover ground I already knew. It did not — particularly the Shariah-compliant versus conventional portfolio module and the REIT content. The six one-to-one sessions gave me room to go deeper on the parts that mattered most to my family situation."
Learning in Practice
Three composite stories drawn from the experiences of Sinar Wawasan learners — identifying details changed.
A secondary school teacher in her late forties had been contributing to EPF for 22 years but had never reviewed her account. She did not know the difference between Account 1 and Account 2, or whether her PRS contributions were allocated sensibly.
She enrolled in the Foundations programme over an eight-week period, working through the EPF and PRS modules at her own pace — watching sessions in the evenings after school hours.
Within two months of completing the programme, she had reviewed her EPF allocation, made a PRS top-up before the LHDN deadline, and reviewed her family's insurance coverage for the first time in several years.
A married couple approaching 55 wanted to understand their retirement options but found most financial advice generic — aimed either at younger accumulators or people who had already retired. They felt between categories.
They enrolled in the Retirement Planning Pathway together, working through the 12-week curriculum side by side and attending the one-to-one advisory session as a couple.
Following the advisory session, they adjusted their EPF Account 1 withdrawal plan, set a target retirement age of 60 instead of 55, and built a simple drawdown schedule together using the printed ledger.
A business owner in his early fifties had accumulated property, unit trust investments, and EPF savings but had no estate plan — no wasiat, no hibah arrangements, and no trustee designation. He was aware this needed addressing but did not know where to begin.
He enrolled in the Legacy Portfolio Programme and completed the 20-week curriculum over five months, making use of the flexible pacing option when his workload increased midway through.
By the close of the programme he had a personalised written plan covering his portfolio, a wasiat drafted with the guest lawyer, and hibah arrangements in place for two of his properties. He described it as "years of procrastination resolved."
